About the Artist

One of my sons asked me recently,
“What did you want to be when you grew up?”
“An artist,” I answered. No kidding. Well, okay, I also wanted to be an Olympian of some sort, an actress or singer,
but artist was definitely high on the list.

The Artist

The oldest of five girls, I grew up outside of Chicago and after graduating from Colgate University 1989, tested out life in Boston , Orlando , and Brooklyn before settling in Atlanta with my husband and two boys. During those years of wanderlust, I held some creative jobs with a number of well-known companies like Crate & Barrel, CBS Entertainment, and The Walt Disney Company, where I earned a Special Merit Award from Walt Disney Imagineering for an attraction design. I have now come full circle to do what I wanted as a child – draw, paint, design, and share my creations with others.

The Art

I started selling commissioned renderings about 15 years ago. Watercolor renderings quickly emerged as my favorite; the translucent appeal of it somehow reminds me of the seashore, which is where I would spend most of my time creating, if I could. Selling my watercolor renderings eventually evolved into creating computer-generated illustrations for the stationery market, and for five years, I sold top-selling invitation and announcement designs to a national online wholesale stationery distributor, Noteworthy Collections, before taking the plunge to create and distribute invitations and announcements under my own company, Ink & Paint.

The Motivation

I love hosting and attending events, and I adore playing with colors, papers, ribbons and text to create unique invitations. I can't think of a better way to combine two of my favorite things. Do what you love; love what you do. I'm there. Yes, this is definitely what I wanted to be when I grew up…and I'm still growing, personally and professionally, and having a blast along the way.
